Kate, Foster Carer & teaching assistant

Kate brings both professional and personal insight to fostering. As a qualified teacher, she combines her knowledge of child development with a deep understanding of children’s emotional needs. Since becoming a foster carer, she has supported young people through education transitions, difficult emotions and building self‑confidence.

“Children in care often carry experiences that others don’t see — and fostering gives you the chance to help them feel understood and safe.”

Kate highlights how valuable tailored support and open communication are — from training and supervision to practical help when fostering arrangements are challenging.

“Fostering is about being there — consistently, compassionately and with patience.”

Desi & Priscilla, Partners & Foster Carers

Desi and Priscilla joined Futures Group in late 2021. Since approval, they have welcomed a child for a short break and are preparing for a long-term fostering arrangement. Together, they bring warmth, experience and a genuine love for children to every home.

“We wanted to change at least one child’s life — and in doing so, we knew our lives would change too.”

They value strong support from their Supervising Social Worker, clear guidance throughout the fostering process, and the ability to feel safe and confident while caring for children. Their journey highlights the importance of trust, patience, and commitment.

“Fostering isn’t something to take lightly — but with support, it can be one of the most rewarding experiences of your life.”
