Introduction
Fostering sibling groups means providing a stable, nurturing home for brothers and sisters who have come into care together. Being separated from siblings can be especially hard for a child, so whenever it’s in their best interests, we work to keep siblings placed together. This helps them feel safe, supported and connected during a time of change.
Siblings may have experienced loss, trauma or upheaval before coming into care, but being placed together with the right support can help them heal and grow with each other. Your care can make an enormous difference in their lives.

WHAT’S INVOLVED & WHO COMES INTO OUR CARE
Children placed as sibling groups can range from two to several brothers and sisters of different ages. As a foster carer for siblings, you may be supporting:
Joint day‑to‑day routines, mealtimes, bedtime and family life together
Emotional bonds, encouraging supportive, loving relationships between siblings
Individual needs within a group, recognising that each child may process experiences differently
Professional collaboration, working with schools, social workers and therapists to meet diverse needs
Whether the sibling group is young, older, or mixed ages, your caring home environment offers them continuity, reassurance and stability, especially during transitions such as changes in schooling, friendships or family time.
WHO CAN FOSTER & SUPPORT FOR CARERS
We welcome foster carers who are able and willing to care for more than one child at a time. To be considered as a carer for sibling groups, you should:
Have a spare bedroom(s) suitable for siblings
Be aged 21 or over (no upper age limit)
Ideally have experience with children or young people
Be a British citizen or have Leave to Remain in the UK
Placing siblings together can require patience, organisation and empathy. Single carers, couples or families of all backgrounds are encouraged to apply, what matters most is your commitment to providing stability, consistency and care.
Our support for sibling‑group carers includes:
A dedicated Supervising Social Worker
24/7 specialist support from our experienced team
Training tailored to the needs of sibling fostering arrangements
Local support groups and peer networks
Practical resources and advice for household and family routines
You will never be alone in your journey, we partner with you to ensure siblings receive the best possible care.
"We want children to achieve their potential, no matter where they come from or what challenges they meet along the way."
